Organ Transplantation: A Dual Supply Chain Perspective
نویسندگان
چکیده
Organ transplantation is often studied in its medical, legal or ethical dimensions. Very few works have considered the supply chain dimension, even though organisation of organ transportation critical to success transplants given extremely tight time constraint guarantee correct state organ. The authors examine logistical systems associated with transplantation, distinguishing between two service processes: push flow model, implemented context transplants‚ and pull coercive transplants. While this dual perspective has never been analysed until now, research note highlights a theorical gap which could be answered future research.

Robust supply chain coordination modeling: A revenue management perspective
The revenue management concept and techniques are applied to model the coordination of supply chain elements. The fundamental premise of this approach is synchronization of a group of business entities consist-ing of a manufacturer and multiple suppliers to achieve an optimal supply chain capacity plans. The output of the supply chain can be various products and thus it is measured in terms of ...
متن کاملOrgan transplantation: a Sunni Islamic perspective.
This paper reviews the standpoints of Muslim jurists within the Sunni tradition on organ transplantation. Muslim jurists allowed different forms of bone grafts (autograft, allograft and xenograft) for widely broken bones. Ibn Sina in 1037 discussed this subject in Al-Kanoon 1000 years ago. In 1959, the Muftis of Egypt and Tunisia allowed, under specific conditions, corneal transplants from dead...
متن کاملA Comprehensive Mathematical Model for Designing an Organ Transplant Supply Chain Network under Uncertainty
One of the most important issues in area of health and hygiene is location-allocation of organ harvesting centers and transplant centers according to coordination between supply and demand. In this paper, a mathematical model is presented for location-allocation of organ harvesting centers and transplant centers. The proposed model does not only minimize the present value of the total system co...
متن کاملCluster Manufacturing: A Supply Chain Perspective
Supply chain management clusters are geographic concentrations of three or more companies directly involved in the upstream and downstream flows of products, services, finances and/or information from a source to a customer. Clusters extend downstream to channels and customers, as well as laterally to manufacturers of complementary products. They also extend to companies in industries related b...
متن کاملEquivalent Supply Chain Metrics. A Behavioral Perspective
We analyze how performance metrics that contain the same information a ect actual decisions. We consider two such metrics from inventory management, days of supply and inventory turn rate, where one is the inverse of the other. We argue that individuals tend to assess performance based on the metrics as opposed to the fundamental attributes that actually matter and develop behavioral models tha...
